The GtfD 4,6-α-glucanotransferase enzyme of Paenibacillus beijingensis  is member of the glycoside hydrolase family 70. Two reuteran-like polymers distributions were generated from amylose V by the P. beijingensis GtfD: a high-molecular mass polymer (HMMP) and a low-molecular mass polymer (LMMP) containing both long linear α(1→4) chains.

Description

The GtfD 4,6-α-glucanotransferase enzyme of Paenibacillus beijingensis  is member of the glycoside hydrolase family 70. Two reuteran-like polymers distributions were generated from amylose V by the P. beijingensis GtfD: a high-molecular mass polymer (HMMP) and a low-molecular mass polymer (LMMP) containing both long linear α(1→4) chains. The HMM polymer with an average lenght of 27 MDa has a linkage ratio α(1→4):α(1→6)= 71:29, and the LMM polymer (19 KDa) has a linkage ratio α(1→4):α(1→6) = 77:23, indicating the HMM has a slighly higher amount of α(1→6) linkages.
